First off, I must note that I am not a nutritionist or dietician. I am just a woman who is very passionate about fitness and nutrition. Please see a doctor or registered physician before starting any diet or fitness routine, or any lifestyle changes.
OMG has it been awhile since I last worked out. Sometimes life gets in the way, and it’s easy to make excuses. I had to work late, I don’t feel good, I have to run errands, I have to make dinner, the kids are sick, the dogs are sick, I got stuck in traffic, I don’t have time….we’ve said them all. The only way we can make our lives healthier is to stop making excuses and make the time. I know life gets in the way, but you have to learn to be flexible. We can make a routine and then something happens, and we miss a workout and eat bad foods, so we just give up on the week and say we’ll start again on Monday. Monday is that dreaded start day. Things will happen and we will eat bad foods and miss a workout, but instead of being so hard on ourselves and giving up, how about we just continue on the next day? As long as we try our best each day, take everything one day at a time, we will get where we want to be.
So today was my first workout in almost a year. I did a 10 minute warmup on my spin bike, followed by 2 sets of 12 of 10 upper body exercises with 8 pound weights, followed by 20 more minutes on the bike, and finished with 10 minutes of stretching. It felt so good to work out. I didn’t want to stop, but I figured I shouldn’t push myself too hard and do too much too soon. I have no desire to get an injury because then that will postpone my workouts again. I had so much energy after my workout. I then followed that with a protein shake, grilled chicken tenderloins, fettuccine parmesan, a glass of wine, and 20 ounces of water. It’s been 3 hours since I finished my workout and I still have loads of energy. I think I’m going to move my workouts to the morning on a fasted stomach. This way, I can burn fat and have energy all day. Plus, when you work out in the mornings before the day starts, there is a low chance you will get interrupted by the day. That also allows me to use the evening after work to take my dogs walking. They need exercise too. Two out of four of my dogs are overweight. If they are overweight, there is a good chance I’m overweight too…guess what, I am. I’m also going back to school to finish my Master’s degree starting in a couple of days. I need to prioritize my time as best I can. That’s why I’m glad my husband bought me a spin bike and everything else for an indoor gym. I have no excuses. I can work out at home any time, any day. No more excuses. This post is about how amazing it felt to work out. I’ll post my workouts next week, after I get into a solid routine. Tell me how your workouts make you feel!!
