We had very nice weather here in Columbus last weekend. In fact, early on in the day, it actually felt like fall. Eventually we got back up to 95, but the morning was great.
I went for a run and came home deciding, “I’m going to be productive and get stuff done.”
My first objective for the day was to pick up the fallen and rotting pears on the ground below the wonderful, blossoming pear trees in our yard (yep, that’s plural).
As it turns out there were about 500 pears under that tree – half of them were rotten.
It only took about 2 hours (gross) to get these pears from the ground to the large trash cans outside. This mass of pears completely filled three of them. Luckily, my kind neighbor loaned out her rake and shovel which helped to speed up the process up a bit. Regardless, it took way too long and was painful on my hands, knees and lower back (um, that sounded old).
And to top that off, about two hours later, there were 20 more on the ground.
Here’s to hoping this thing only produces fruit once a year and that this stops soon.

I know how you feel only mine are apples. I have begun to dislike the time of year when the apples start to fall.
